Oglethorpe Intramurals Program
Steve Schmidt Recreation Center
Oglethorpe's intramural and recreational programs offer all students, faculty and staff the opportunity to enjoy the fun and participation of team sports and outdoor activities. The 2010-2011 intramurals line-up includes flag football and tennis (fall), basketball and dodgeball (winter) with ultimate frisbee and kickball in the spring season. Intramural athletics are popular with both men and women and all students are welcome to participate. For those inclined to individual competitions, a ping-pong championship and an eight-ball pool championship will also be on the horizon in the coming year. Instruction in areas such as fencing, ballroom dancing and yoga may be available as well. Also, be sure to check out details about the exciting new race for the Petrel Cup below.
The OUtdoor Program offers Oglethorpe students seasonal opportunities to travel off-campus and enjoy outdoor adventures in the beautiful landscapes of North Georgia and the surrounding region. A fall labor day kayaking adventure, a winter snow-tubing/skiing trip and a spring kayaking/whitewater experience will be among this year's OUtdoor offerings.

2011 Petrel Cup
This will be an annual award to the organization (sorority, fraternity, dorm floor, staff or other entity) that accumulates the most points throughout the year. Points will be awarded based on participation and standings in intramural events during the course of the entire school year.
Events being offered are:
-Flag football & tennis in fall
-Basketball & dodgeball in winter
-Ultimate frisbee & kickball in spring
Individual events that can earn points for the team are:
-Ping pong
-Eight-ball
-Other events
All dorm floors, organizations,, groups of friends, etc., are urged to create teams to participate. We want to make this BIG - create a "buzz."
Sign-ups will be available online; standings and results will be posted on the website. We will also be putting pictures on the website. With more kids on campus, we can make this work.
We need your help in promoting, talking it up, and pushing your floor to have a team or combine with other floors to have a team.
We are open to suggestions - either contact Peter Howell or Andrew Tulowitzky
