Petrels Defeat McDaniel 9-3 in Florida
The Petrels started their spring break trip to Winter Haven, Fla., on the right foot, defeating McDaniel 9-3 Friday morning.
The Petrels pounded out 16 hits in the contest, led by Ryan Grau and Andy Farrey, who were both 3-for-5. Brendan Pilger continued his torrid pace, pounding out a pair of doubles. Matt Cornwell had two hits, including a home run.
TJ Schmutz threw five innings of quality work for his first career win. He gave up just two runs.
The Petrels are now back to .500 on the year at 7-7. They have followed up their four-game losing streak with a four-game winning streak. On Friday morning, they will continue their Florida trip by facing Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the No. 3 team in the nation, in their first game of the year.
