The Oglethorpe baseball team continued its Southern Classic schedule by losing to LaGrange, 6-1, on Saturday. The loss drops the Petrels to 1-3 on the year. David Langhan picked up the loss and fell to 1-1.
The Petrels again struggled to get the bats going, scoring just one run on four hits. The lone run came in the seventh after the Petrels were already down 6-0. Pinch-hitter Joe Parillo led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a groundout, advanced to third on an error, and scored on an RBI single by Vernon Trice.
Trice was 1-for-3 with the RBI, Parillo was 1-for-2 with the run scored, and left fielder Hunter Riley was 1-for-2, also.
The Petrels will next be in action on Tuesday, when they will play LaGrange again, this time at the Panthers home field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
