Dan Giordano begins his seventh full season as the Head Coach of the Stormy Petrel baseball program. Giordano is no stranger to the program as he played for the Petrels from 1999-2002. He was hired as the pitching coach upon graduation and was name interim hed coach halfway through 2004. In 2005, he was handed the reigns of the program on a full time basis.

In 2004 he took over a team that 1-17 and led the team to a fourth place finish at the SCAC Championships held at Oglethorpe. Their fourth place finish is the best SCAC finish in the history of the program. Two players were named to the All-Region South 2nd Team and three players made the All-SCAC Team.

In 2005, Giordano took over the program full time in February and inherited a small squad of 12 players. Despite the lack of depth the Petrels battled throughout the year and managed to finish just three games out of playoff contention. In 2006, the Petrels went 11-29, almost doubling the wins from the previous year and fell one game short of postseason play.

Giordano has led the Petrels to the SCAC playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years and put up the first winning season since 1997 in 2009. In 2009, Giordano was named Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year at the division three level. That year they also had the first player drafted in the modern ear (1992- present) in Daniel Sarisky (40th Round Houston Astros).

The Petrels have enjoyed their best three year stretch of any team in school history since 1993.

Since Giordano took over the program the Petrels have had 22 All-SCAC members and four ABCA All-South All-Americans and one Rawlings Gold Glove winner.
