The men's basketball team lost to DePauw on Friday night, 74-70. The Petrels final conference game in Greencastle, Ind. proved a fitting one as the locale of a house of horrors claimed another Petrel defeat on the strength of the Tigers drilling 14 of 29 shots from beyond the arc.
Todd Ward scored 29 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the loss. Oglethorpe played winning basketball, connecting on 56% from the field (30 of 54), 50% from three (6 of 12) and 100% from the charity stripe (4 of 4) while outrebounding the Tigers 27-23 on the night. DePauw, however, countered with the aforementioned deadly three-point shooting to pull out the win.
The Petrels are now 13-10 on the season and 9-5 in SCAC play and will face Centre this Sunday in Danville.
