Petrels Post Low Round of Day 3 to Jump to 4th at NCAA Championships

The men's golf team posted the low round of the day and tournament at the 2010 Men's Golf Championships to jump from 8th to 4th place in their quest to defend the National Championship.

The Petrels fired a superb team-total of 286 (-2) to leapfrog four teams and pull into position for a stellar finish to the 2010 Championships. Despite the phenomenal round, Oglethorpe was only able to gain one stroke on frontrunning Methodist, who will enter tomorrow's final round with a 13 stroke advantage.

Scott Pugh carded a 1-over par 73 and sits in a tie for 11th place overall. Eric Quinn continued his hot play by posting a 69 (-3) and has jumped all the way up into a tie for 13th place. Craig Stevenson eagled the par 5 number 9 on his final hole of the day to card a one-under 71 and Matt Rebitch turned in a steady round of 73 to round out the Petrels scoring on the day.

Round four action begins tomorrow afternoon and the scores can be followed live at www.golfstat.com.
