Men Claim Third Place at Rhodes Fall Classic; Rebitch Wins Medalist Honors
The Oglethorpe University men's golf team finished in third place at the Rhodes Fall Classic held at the Tunica National Resorts in Mississippi this past weekend. The defending national champion Stormy Petrels posted a two-day total of 590 to finish at 14-over par and nine strokes off the pace of eventual tournament winner, Huntingdon College.
Oglethorpe junior Matt Rebitch of Delmont, Pennsylvania earned
tournament medalist honors after posting consecutive rounds of
69-73 for total of 2-under par, one stroke better than
Southwestern's Cody Patrick. Rebitich competed as an individual for
Oglethorpe and recorded his second win in his career. He also won
at Royal Lakes in the fall of 2008.
Senior Scott Pugh carded rounds of 73-71 to finish at even par for
the tournament and in a tie for 3rd place overall. Sophomore Craig
Stevenson finished at 6-over par in a tie for 28th place and senior
Michael Hicks equalled the feat to finish in a tie for 28th as
well. Sophomore Matt Bernstein shot 76-75 to finish at 7-over par
and in a tie for 35th place to round out the Petrels in the top-40.

The Petrels are back in action on September 27th when they play in
the Greensboro College Fall Invitational in North Carolina.
