The preseason 6th ranked Oglethorpe men's golf team got their fall season underway and recorded an 8th place finish at the prestigious Golfweek Invitational held at the Southern Dunes Golf Club in Haines, Fla.
In a field that included each of the top-10 schools by ranking in the nation, the Petrels finished 8th out of 15 competing squads. Oglethorpe turned in a three-day team total of 884 (+20) to finish 26 strokes off the pace set by tournament winner Greensboro College (858, -6).
Junior Craig Stevenson led the charge for Oglethorpe by posting three successive rounds of even par to finish with a total of 216 and alone in 8th place individually. Sophomore Eric Quinn carded a tournament total of 219 to finish in a tie for 19th place and junior Matt Bernstein came home in a tie for 33rd after taking 223 strokes in the three-day affair. Freshman Corey Hall (+17) finished 66th place in his first collegiate event and junior Jordan Hall (+19) came home in 69th place.
