Oglethorpe University is set to host the 2010 Royal Lakes Fall Classic at the Royal Lakes Golf Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia starting this weekend.
The field of sixteen competing schools will play a practice round this Sunday before teeing off for rounds one and two on Monday and Tuesday. The illustrious field includes nine of the top thirty-five schools in the nation in Golfstat's most recent head-to-head rankings, including four of the top ten ranked teams in the country.
Among the highly ranked competitors for the tournament are (with ranking in parentheses) Huntingdon College (No. 2), Greensboro College (No. 3), Methodist University (No. 4) and Oglethorpe (No.9). The field also includes Emory University (No. 17), St. Olaf (No. 19), California Lutheran University (No. 25), Birmingham-Southern (No. 30) and Rhodes College (No. 35).Additionally, the field features non-ranked participants Covenant College, Piedmont College, Millsaps College, Coastal Georgia, LaGrange College, Maryville College and DePauw University.
Oglethorpe and St. Olaf will each enter "B" teams into the event making the total number of competitors eighteen vying for the title.
