Oglethorpe Golfers Lend Hand for The First Tee of Atlanta

Oglethorpe University men's golf head coach Jim Owen and five members of the Stormy Petrels golf team spent Saturday afternoon October 30 at the John A White Golf Course, home of The First Tee of Atlanta, providing golf instruction to area youth ages 8 to 16.

Oglethorpe golfers Patrick Cansfield, Anthony Amodeo, Lewis Gregory, Eric Quinn and Hayden Jones provided instruction to over 100 young athletes from the Atlanta area to help share the fundamentals of golf. The event will gave The First Tee of Atlanta participants the opportunity to learn from collegiate players and coaches and in the areas of golf instruction and wellness, as well as the importance of high school graduation, preparation for college and college golf opportunities.

In addition to the Oglethorpe golfers, student-athletes and coaches from Clayton State University, Emory University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University, Morehouse College participated in the event.

"It was a great afternoon out on the golf course with our friends from The First Tee," said Coach Owen. "We've been participating with First Tee for years now and our student-athletes really enjoy spending time sharing tips about the game they love with the First Tee participants."
