Amodeo Cards 61, Breaks Course Record at Camp Lejeune

Oglethorpe freshman golfer Anthony Amodeo (pictured) of Marietta, Ga. carded a round two 61 at the Camp Lejeune Invitational in Jacksonville, N.C. on Sunday afternoon and the Petrels are in second place heading into tomorrow's final round.

Amodeo's day included breaking the course record on the par-70 Scarlet Course at Paradise Point by firing a round two 61. The round featured two eagles and five birdies with nary a bogey on the card and bested the previous course record of 62 set in 1998 by PGA golfer and ex-Methodist star Chad Collins. The Petrels surged to the round one lead playing on the more forgiving Gold Course on Friday after shooting a team total 292 (+4). Greensboro College took advantage of the Gold Course on Saturday to claim a 7 stroke advantage over the second place Petrels heading into the third and final round tomorrow.
