Owen Earns Dave Williams Award as Top D-III Coach
The Golf Coaches Association of America, in conjunction with diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation, over the holiday break awarded the Dave Williams Award presented by Eaton Golf Pride for national coach of the year. Head men's golf coach Jim Owen earned the honor among all D-III coaches.

Owen Named SCAC Coach-of-the-Year for 12th Time
Folllowing exclusive voting by the head coaches of the SCAC, men's golf coach Jim Owen has been selected as the 2012 SCAC Men's Golf Coach-of-the-Year. With 12 COTY selections, Owen joins Trinity's Paul McGinlay in a tie for most in the same sport in SCAC history.

Golfers Break from NCAA Prep to School Special Olympians
Fresh off winning their 10th SCAC title, the Oglethorpe men's golf team is prepping for the 2012 NCAA D-III Championships at the Mission Inn Resort in Florida. Following Sunday's practice round, the squad took a break to spend time with members of the Lake County Special Olympics and help sharpen their golf skills.

Perfect 10! Golfers Dust Field, Claim 10th SCAC Title
The men's golf team showed why they carried the No. 2 ranking in the nation this weekend by dusting the field to win their 10th SCAC Men's Golf Championship at the Tunica Resorts in Mississippi. The Petrels led wire-to-wire to take the hardware for the fourth time in five years and earn their 14th trip to the NCAA Championships.

Methodist fired the low round of the tournament on Sunday afternoon to run away with the 2012 Camp Lejeune Invitational in Jacksonville, N.C. The Petrels started play just 2 strokes back of the Monarchs but had to settle for second place after the Monarchs posted their sterling final round.

Jones Cards Two Eagles, Has Petrels Atop Lejeune Field
Sophomore men's golfer Hayden Jones carded two first round eagles on Friday afternoon at the famed Camp Lejeune Invitational in Jacksonville, N.C. to lead the loaded field with a round of 4-under par. His heroics also have the Petrels atop the leaderboard featuring 32 of the nation's best golf squads.

The men's golf team chased down Methodist in the final round of the Wynlakes Wynternational on Tuesday to start their spring slate off with a huge victory. Considering the stout 8-team field included 7 of the Top 25 ranked teams in the nation, the win should go a long way towards securing the Petrels 13th straight trip to the NCAA's.

Golfers Claim 8th at Royal Lakes
The men's golf team concluded their fall season on Tuesday evening by coming home in 8th place at the 2011 Royal Lakes Fall Classic hosted by Oglethorpe. Christopher Newport University fired a two-day total of 585 to win the event.

Golfers Surge to 4th Place Finish at Golfweek Invitational
The men's golf team finished the 2011 Golfweek Fall Invitational in fourth place on Tuesday evening. Playing in a field that featured 12 of the nation's 20 best teams, the Petrels fired the low round of the tourney (and their season) in round three to secure the fourth place result.

The men's golf team, ranked No. 6 in the nation, battled to a fifth place finish at the 2011 Gordin Collegiate NCAA D-III Fall Preview that concluded today. The fifth place result is a solid one considering the field included the top-18 D-III men's golf teams in the nation.
