The Oglethorpe men's golf team enters the fall season as the No. 7 ranked team in the nation and they will put that ranking on the line this weekend in the first tournament at the Rhodes Fall Classic held at the Tunica Resorts in Mississippi.
The Petrels begin the 2011-12 campaign after finishing tied for 11th at the 2011 NCAA Championships last May in Greensboro, N.C. With another year of experience the 2011 roster is loaded with talent that could bring Coach Jim Owen's second national title home.
Oglethorpe will feature an "A" and a "B" team at the Rhodes Fall Classic. The "A" team is led by seniors Matt Rebitch (Delmont, Penn.) and Jordan Hall (Tifton, Ga.) and also includes junior Eric Quinn (Norcross, Ga.), sophomore Anthony Amodeo (Marietta, Ga.) and freshman Anthony Maccaglia (Tampa, Fla.).
Competing for the "B" team this weekend will be sophomores Patrick Cansfield (Port Huron, Mich.), Lewis Gregory (Sherringham, UK), Stephen Harris (Macon, Ga.) and Hayden Jones (Orlando, Fla.). Freshman Kentaro Toyota (Japan) will round out the lineup with fellow freshman Will Morrow (Dalton, Ga.) battling for playing time in the lineup.
