The men's golf team chased down Methodist in the final round of the Wynlakes Wynternational on Tuesday to start their spring slate off with a huge victory. Considering the stout 8-team field included 7 of the Top 25 ranked teams in the nation, the win should go a long way towards securing the Petrels 13th straight trip to the NCAA's.
Trailing the Monarchs by one stroke on the final hole, sophomore Anthony Amodeo drilled a 12-foot birdie putt to pull the Petrels even with Methodist. With not enough daylight to complete a playoff, the Petrels scored the big win based on their Monday performance from their No. 5 golfer.
All five Petrel starters in the event placed in the Top 20 individually with Hayden Jones leading the way with a third place finish. Both Amodeo and Anthony Maccaglia tied for third overall while Eric Quinn earned a T-15th place result. Matt Rebitch rounded out the dominant Petrel performances by coming home in 18th place individually.
