Higgins Selected to Coach International Lacrosse Team in Australia
Oglethorpe head men's lacrosse coach Tom Higgins has been selected to coach a team in the Down Under Cup in Australia May 29-June 10, 2012. Players from all over the country are recommended for the team based on their athletic ability and their ability to represent the country in a positive manner.

Oglethorpe Names Higgins Head Lacrosse Coach
The Oglethorpe University athletics department is pleased to announce the hiring of Tom Higgins to the position of head men’s lacrosse coach, effective immediately. Higgins served as the associate head coach to Jay Gardiner during the Stormy Petrels first ever season in 2010-11 and assumes the head position as Gardiner returns full-time to his athletic director’s post.

Petrel Rally Comes Up Short Versus Panthers
The first season of men's lacrosse at Oglethorpe came to a close on Wednesday evening as the young Petrels rallied furiously against Hanover College before falling late, 8-7.

Petrels Top Crusaders, 9-7
The men's lacrosse team picked up their third victory of their inaugural season by topping Dallas on Salamone Field on Sunday afternoon, 9-7. In a tight contest where neither team opened up more than a 3-goal advantage, the Petrels netted the first three goals of the fourth quarter to clear a path to victory.

Pirates Run Away from Petrels
The lacrosse team lost to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas on Sunday afternoon, 22-3. The Petrels trailed 5-3 following an Arness holsey strike early in the second quarter but the Pirates tallied the final 18 goals of the contest to earn the lopsided win.

Men Overwhelmed by Top-Notch Tigers
In this their first season of play the men's lacrosse team faced their highest-rated opponent yet on Friday and were overwhelmed by Colorado College, 28-0. The Tigers, just a few votes shy of cracking the national Top 25 rankings, sprinted to a 21-0 halftime lead en route to the easy win.

Petrels Fall at Berry College
The men's lacrosse team lost at Berry College in Rome, Ga. on Wednesday evening, 15-4. Playing without three injured starters, the short-handed Petrels hung tough until a flurry of 5 straight Viking goals in the final 7 minutes of the first half put the game out of reach.

Colonels Top Petrels in SCAC Clash
In a battle of two first-year lacrosse programs, the Centre College Colonels topped Oglethorpe on Sunday afternoon on Salamone Field, 21-8. The Colonels jumped out to an 11-2 advantage at halftime and held off a Petrels rally in the second stanza for the victory.

Sewanee Blanks Men's Lacrosse on Salamone Field
The men's lacrosse team, playing their first season of collegiate lacrosse, lost to Sewanee on Salamone Field on Friday afternoon, 19-0. The Tigers dominated possession and outshot the Petrels 58-8 to secure the convincing win.

Petrels Sprint Past Majors for 1st SCAC Win
The lacrosse team picked up their first SCAC win in school history on Sunday afternoon by topping Millsaps College on Salamone Field, 12-7. The Majors jumped out to an early 2-1 lead but the Petrels rattled off three straight goals spanning into the second quarter to take command and go on to notch the historic victory.

Warriors Top Petrels in 1st SCAC Lax Clash
The lacrosee team lost to Hendrix College on Salamone Field on Friday afternoon, 11-5. Playing in their first ever SCAC game the Petrels fell behind the Warriors 5-0 and could not recover en route to the loss.

Carthage Spoils Petrels Lax Home Opener
The men's lacrosse team opened play on the Salamone Field against stout competition on Wednesday afternoon and lost to Carthage College, 22-3. The Redmen proved why they're an undefeated 6-0 on the season by streaking to a 12-0 halftime lead and outshooting Oglethorpe 62-17 in the convincing win.

Sport of Lacrosse Makes Debut on Oglethorpe Campus
The sport of lacrosse will debut on the campus of Oglethorpe University next Wednesday, March 16 as the Stormy Petrels take on Carthage College on Salamone Field. The opening face-off will officially begin the advent of Oglethorpe’s 15th varsity sport on a campus that has not witnessed a contact sport since football went defunct in the 1930’s.

Hawks Nip Petrels in Rome
The men's lacrosse team absorbed their first loss ever on Wednesday night in Rome, Ga., falling to the Shorter College Hawks, 14-11. The Petrels were on the Hawks' heels all night long but could not establish a lead in the physical contest.
