In this their first season of play the men's lacrosse team faced their highest-rated opponent yet on Friday and were overwhelmed by Colorado College, 28-0. The Tigers, just a few votes shy of cracking the national Top 25 rankings, sprinted to a 21-0 halftime lead en route to the easy win.
The landslide win for Colorado marked the fourth time this season they've topped an SCAC opponent by 20 or more goals. The Tigers duplicated their domination versus Centre, Millsaps and Southwestern before making Oglethorpe their fourth blowout victim.
The Tigers outshot the Petrels 65-8 and won 51 of 69 ground ball opportunities. Colorado also won all but 6 of 32 face-off battles to dominate possession while clearing 14 of 15 chances. The Petrels improved throughout the contest in their clearance opportunities, converting 5 of 9 in the second half.
Oglethorpe is now 2-8 on the season and will face Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas on Sunday afternoon.
