Higgins served as the associate head coach to Jay Gardiner during the Stormy Petrels first ever season in 2010-11 and assumed the head position in May 2011.

Higgins brings coaching and playing experience from all levels of lacrosse to the Stormy Petrels' program. He played in high school for lacrosse powerhouse Farmingdale on Long Island, N.Y. before taking his talents to the college level at Division I Delaware.

Higgins began his coaching career at State University of New York, Farmingdale where he led the Rams to back-to-back 2nd place junior college finishes.　 He moved to Georgia in 1990 and has been working as an ambassador for the sport of lacrosse ever since, including coaching stints with Mill Creek High School and the Georgia State Panthers.
