Men Top Rowan with Second Half Surge

The men's soccer team topped Rowan on Emory's campus in Decatur today, 4-0. The Petrels turned a tight contest into a blowout with three second half strikes.

The Petrels got the scoring underway in the game's 30th minute when Aaron Walker's cross off a direct kick found the head of Nikos Papanikolopoulos for the tally. The Petrels then earned some breathing room early in the second half on a 56th minute strike from Ben Robertson, assisted by Mark Lavery.

Oglethorpe removed any doubt with two late goals less than 100 seconds apart in the 80th and 82nd minute, the first from Jakub Madej on a feed from Jeff Arsenault and the second a Justin Graves tally on a nice pass from Nick Williamson.

The Petrels are now 2-1 on the season and will look to win the Sonny Carter Invitational with a victory over Methodist tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in Decatur.
