Men's Soccer Drops Tough One to Millsaps

The Oglethorpe men's soccer team suffered a tough loss at Millsaps Friday night, losing on the road in Jackson, Miss., by the score of 3-1.

The Petrels took an early 1-0 lead in the game's 40th minute when junior forward Nick Williamson turned a Ben Robertson corner kick into the net. However, by the end of the half five minutes later, the Petrels would be down to nine men for the remainder of the game after red cards from Williamson and junior midfielder Sean King.

The Petrels held onto their 1-0 lead for almost 15 minutes in the second half, but in the 60th minute, Millsaps tied the game. By the 66th minute, they'd taken the lead. Then they put the game away, for all intents and purposes, with another goal in the 72nd minute, as it was going to be very difficult for the Petrels to come back from two goals down minus two men.

The Petrels were outshot by Millsaps 18-8, including a 13-3 siege in the second half after Oglethorpe was reduced to nine men. Six of the Majors' shots were on target to four of Oglethorpe's shots. Millsaps took seven corner kicks to Oglethorpe's five.

The loss dropped the Petrels to 8-4 on the season, 2-3 in SAA play.
