Generals Spoil Netters Senior Day
The men's tennis team lost their final regular season match on Monday against the Washington and Lee Generals, 7-2. The Petrels celebrated Senior Day for Brad White but a shorthanded Oglethorpe lineup could not overcome the No. 24 ranked Generals.
The Petrels played without the services of No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles competitor Ross Beall who sat out with an injury. The re-configured line-up was only able to win one doubles match and one singles match en route to defeat.
The doubles combo of Felix Mann-Alex Biffle (9-8) scored the lone Petrel win in dramatic fashion while Bryan Bailey-Lawrence Sweatman (8-2) and Brad White-Masen Shreve (8-4) went down.
In singles, Bailey (6-4, 6-1) managed to claw out a win while Mann (6-4, 6-3), Biffle (6-4, 6-4), Sweatman (6-1, 6-1), White (6-2, 6-0) and Tim Tanko (6-2, 6-0) suffered defeat.
Oglethorpe finishes the season with a 15-9 record and will travel to Little Rock to face No. 4 Sewanee in the first round of the SCAC Championships at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
