The men's tennis team lost their final match of the year to No. 26 Rhodes College in North Little Rock, Ark. on Sunday morning, 6-3. After topping Sewanee before falling to Trinity and Rhodes, the Petrels conclude this season just like 2010: matching the school's best SCAC -era finish of fourth place.

Tigers Top Petrels in SCAC Semifinals
The men's tennis team lost to nationally ranked Trinity University in the semifinals of the SCAC Tennis Championships in North Little Rock, Ark. on Saturday morning, 8-1. The Tigers won all six singles matches en route to advancing to Sunday's final.

For the second straight year the Oglethorpe men's tennis team topped Sewanee in the quarterfinals of the SCAC Tournament to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. This year, the Petrels topped the Tigers 8-1 to set up a rematch of last season's semifinal bout against Trinity University.

The men's tennis team capped their most successful season of the modern era by notching their 16th win of the year over No. 30 Washington & Lee on Downing Howell Courts, 6-3. The Petrels finish the regular season with an SCAC-era school-best .842 winning perecentage at 16-3 overall.

The men's tennis team capped their fourth SCAC win in three days by sweeping Hendrix College on Senior Day on Sunday on Downing Howell Courts, 9-0. Seniors Felix Mann, Ross Beall, Masen Shreve and Lawrence Sweatman all scored points for the Petrels in the win.

The men's tennis team swept past Maryville College on Tuesday afternoon on Downing Howell Courts, 9-0. The Petrels breezed through the doubles matches without dropping a game and used a lineup of underclassmen to overwhelm the Scots in singles play to earn the easy win.

After nine consecutive victories the Oglethorpe men's tennis team's win streak was halted on Monday night by Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Warhawks swept the doubles competition and hung on by claiming some tight singles matches to halt the Petrels' streak with a 7-2 victory.

Tennis Courts Dedicated to Downing Howell on Saturday
Oglethorpe University dedicated the "Downing Howell Tennis Courts" in a ceremony on Saturday morning. The dedication was in recognition of an endowment gifts supporting the Oglethorpe University tennis program from Atlanta attorney and civic leader Mr. G. Arthur Howell, Jr., who died on November 25, 2010.
