Tough Trip Ends With Pair of Losses for Men's Netters

The men's tennis team, comprised primarily of freshmen and sophomores, finished off their 2012 spring break trip in Orlando on Wednesday with losses to Colorado College and Colby. Despite the 0-5 trip, the young Petrel squad battled against elite competition and is gaining valuable experience with every match.

Things looked grim against Colorado in the morning session after the Tigers swept through the doubles competition to open up a 3-0 advantage. The Petrels, however, turned the tables in a hurry by ripping off wins at No.'s 1, 2, 3 and 4 singles to suddenly level the match at 4-apiece. Ultimately, the result came down the battle at No. 5 between the Petrels' Jeremiah Farmer and Robert Kasemodel for Colorado, with Kasemodel securing the match with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. The afternoon match against Colby was the Petrels sixth match in five grueling days and Colby took full advantage with a convincing 9-0 win. Complete Colby match results posted below.

The men's netters are now 5-10 on the season and will get set to close out the 2012 campaign with conference tilts. First up will be a doubleheader against Hendrix and Centre on March 31.
