The Oglethorpe men's tennis team continued their torrid pace, shutting out Hendrix 9-0 in Conway, Ark., Saturday morning.
The Petrels got three easy wins in doubles to start things off. C.J. Antonio and Bryan Bailey swept their opponents, 8-0, in the No. 2 slot, while Cedric Andre and Rajiv Dinakaran did the same out of the No. 3 slot. Ethan Motz and Ben Hirsch completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at No. 1.
With a 3-0 lead entering doubles, the Petrels made quick work of finishing off the dual match, getting four 6-0, 6-0 victories, one each from Bailey, Kirk Zhao, Hirsch and Roby. Briton Richardson had it almost as easy at No. 5, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Meanwhile, Motz had a close match at No. 1. He won the first set 6-1, but lost the second 4-6. The third set was decided in a super-tiebreak, as the dual match had already been decided. Motz won the super-tiebreak 10-7, winning the match and completing the clean sweep for the Petrels.
The win improves the Petrels to 16-4, 5-1 in SAA competition. They travel to Memphis, Tenn., to take on Rhodes Sunday for second place in the league heading into the SAA Championship in two weeks.
