Members of the Oglethorpe men's tennis team are competing in the ITA Southern Regionals this weekend in Sewanee, Tenn.
The event takes the best individual players and doubles teams in the region and pits them against one another. Participants in the A draw have the opportunity to advance to the ITA Nationals in Fort Myers, Fla., next month, but only the singles and doubles champions advance out of each region.
Sophomore C.J. Antonio picks up the highest-ever seed for a Petrels in this tournament, as he finds himself seeded No. 8. Sophomore Nick Roby takes on the region's No. 4 seed in the first round, while juniors Ben Hirsch and Kirk Zhao are also in that pod. In fact, Hirsch and Roby would face each other in the second round if both were to win in the first. Freshman Matt Jones finds himself in the No. 5 seed's pod, but they would not face until the third round.
In the doubles competition, Zhao and Jones face off against the No. 8 seed team, while Antonio and Hirsch find themselves locked in the same pod with the seventh-seeded pairing from Emory.
