Men's Tennis Deals with Near Washout at ITA Southern Regionals

Members of the Oglethorpe men's tennis team dealt with heavy rain throughout Saturday at the ITA Small College South Regional Championships in Sewanee, Tenn. The consolation, C and B doubles draws were canceled due to the weather.

This eliminated Hunter Bivins/Josh Rosenberg and Cedric Andre/Nick Roby from the competition, as well as Josh Rosenberg from the C singles. Matt Jones and Nick Roby's weekends in the consolation round were also ended prematurely.

In the B singles draw, Andre advanced to the semifinals, but lost to Millsaps' Mysa Pjvec once he got there, 8-4, in a rain-shortened one set match. Hunter Bivins also advanced to the semfinals out of the B draw, Guilford's Hunter Freitas 6-0, 6-1. However, he also lost his semifinal encounter to N.C. Wesleyan's Panayot Kusidi, 8-6.

The squad will now look to the spring season, where they'll look to improve on their second place finish from last year and make a run at the SAA crown.
