The Oglethorpe men's tennis team saw three players named to All-SAA squads today. Sophomore C.J. Antonio earned his second straight All-SAA First Team honors while sophomore Nick Roby and junior Ben Hirsch nabbed All-SAA Second Team accolades.
This marks Antonio's second consecutive appearance on the All-SAA First Team. He enjoyed a superb season after being promoted to the No. 1 spot from the No. 2 spot last season. He went 13-8 in singles competition, four of those losses coming to regionally-ranked opponents, and is currently the 24th-ranked player in the Atlantic South region. He excelled at No. 1 doubles with both Roby and Hirsch. Overall, Antonio's doubles teams finished 16-7. He and Roby went 13-3 as a pair and are currently the 15th-ranked doubles team in the Atlantic South.
Roby enjoyed a breakout season himself, mostly out of the No. 3 slot. He ran out to a 13-7 singles record on the year, including 10-6 in the No. 3 slot. Roby went 15-8 overall in doubles, playing with senior Cedric Andre at No. 2 when he wasn't partnering with Antonio in the top slot.
Hirsch earns his second consecutive All-SAA accolade after garnering All-SAA Honorable Mention after the 2013 season. He went 13-10 on the season in singles competition, mostly at No. 2. He and Antonio went 3-4 as doubles partners early in the season and were regionally ranked before being split up. Towards the latter part of the season, Hirsch was partnered with Andre at No. 2 doubles and went 9-6 on the season with him. Overall, Hirsch's doubles team went a combined 12-10 over the course of the 2014 campaign.
The Stormy Petrels finished the year 13-10, 5-1 in SAA play. The overall recored is good enough to be ranked 12th in the Atlantic South currently. The SAA mark put them second in the conference for the second consecutive season.
