Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season on Campus this Saturday
In what promises to be a very close contest, Oglethorpe's Track & Field teams will host NCAA Division I Mercer University on Saturday, March 6 in the first meet held on the recently re-surfaced track.
Oglethorpe's athletes have shown strength during the indoor meets in several areas, including the hurdles, long and triple jump. Mercer perennially boasts a talented field of distance runners. The overall victory will come in the margin: the sprints and throws and the all important second and third place finishes.
The meet begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6th, kicking off a full day of sports on campus. Baseball plays a double-header and the tennis squads host matches in the afternoon.
Fans will not have a chance to see the track teams compete on campus again until April 7th in the annual dual-meet with Chattahoochee Tech or April 17th (Alumni Weekend) in a head-to-head contest with Concordia College of Selma, Alabama.
