Track Teams Compete in Gem of the Hills Classic

The Oglethorpe University men's and women's track & field teams spent this past Saturday in Jacksonville, Alabama competing at the Gem of The Hills Track Classic. Over 500 athletes competed in the events and most Stormy Petrel athletes turned in their best performances of the season.

Of note on the men's side was Evan Britton who placed in all three jumps. He finished 7th in the high jump by clearing 6'-4.75" and 8th in both the long and triple jumps with distances of 20'-3.5" and 42'-0.5", respectively. On the women's side, sophomore Bianca Hernould captured 8th place in the women's 3000m steeplechase.

The thinclads return to action this Wednesday when they host the annual Chattahoochee Tech - Oglethorpe battle.  Chattahoochee Tech is coached by OU alum Steve Prettyman.  Oglethorpe won both the men's and women's contests last April. The meet will begin at 3:00 p.m.
