Track Teams Victorious vs. Chatahoochee Tech
Oglethorpe hosted neighboring rival Chattahoochee Tech in the annual dual meet challenge last Wednesday afternoon with the men's (tie 41-41) and women's teams emerging victorious.
Chattahoochee Tech has featured NAIA National Qualifiers in several events over the last four years for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Once again, as in past years, Oglethorpe held its ground. The Oglethorpe women won 64-39.
The men’s squads have strength in different areas and the tie score 41-41 reflects that difference. Chattahoochee Tech swept the sprints and 1500 meters. OU’s men carried the day in the field events. High point scorers for OU were juniors Chad Smith with three firsts in the throws and Evan Britton with two firsts and a second in the jumps. For the women, eleven different women contributed points. Leading the way were senior Elizabeth Hale with 14.5 points; junior Courtney Craig with 11; and sophomores Beth Cleary and Courtney Phillips with 8 and 7.25 points, respectively.
Oglethorpe’s next competition will be a dual meet with Concordia College of Selma, Alabama on Saturday of Alumni Weekend, April 17th on the home track.
