Zimbron Sets Track Record

Sophomore Luis Zimbron broke Oglethorpe's 800 meter record on Friday at the Western Carolina University Track & Field Invitational.  In a gritty race on an unusually hot and humid afternoon Zimbon finished in 1:59.21 in a virtual tie with Sewanee rival John Gilmer. The two middle distance specialists will meet again at the SCAC championships next weekend.

OU's Elizabeth Hale continued to score against all competition.  Hale won the high jump, took 6th in the long jump and anchored the 3rd place women's 400 meter relay team.

Sharing the baton with Hale in that race were Whitney Taylor, Chloey Mayo and Lynette McKinney. McKinney was also 6th in the high hurdles, Taylor was 5th in the intermediate hurdles, and Mayo took 4th in the shot put.  Other women scoring were Avery Livingston 4th in the 400m, Beth Cleary 8th in the 1500m, Courtney Craig 5th in the javelin, and Tammer Weems 5th in the shot put.
