Track Season Ends at SCAC Championships

Running true to form, Oglethorpe junior Elizabeth Hale was high point scorer at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships held April 24-25, 2009. Hale won the high jump, clearing 5'1.75", finished second in the long jump with a new personal best of 17'5.25" and managed to add an eighth place in the triple jump(33'-8.5") even after being slowed by an injury.

Joining Hale in multiple event scoring was junior Chloey Mayo who took eighth in the shot with a season best throw of 32'9" and who ran the first leg of the women's 4x400 relay team. Joining Mayo on the relay were junior Avery Livingston and freshmen Whitney Taylor and Beth Cleary. Sophomore Courtney Craig captured seventh place in the discus with a season best toss of 95'-1".

Men scorers were junior Enrique Sanchez who finished fifth in the 10000 meters in 34:08 and sophomore Luis Zimbron who finished seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:59.65.
