Track Teams Improve at Sewanee Indoor
The Oglethorpe University men's and women's track teams improved over their performances of two weeks ago in Sewanee's Fowler Gymnasium this Saturday.
In their last indoor contest before opening the Outdoor Track & Field season at home on March 6th, a number of athletes scored points for the Stormy Petrels. Junior Sarah Foster lowered her own school record in the 55m hurdles , taking 6th place in 9.40. Junior Tammer Weems took 6th place honors in the shot put while senior Elizabeth Hale finished 4th in the long jump and tied for 6th in the high jump.
On the men's side, junior Evan Britton led the scoring by finishing 4th in the triple jump and 6th in the long jump. Sophomore Isaac Barron finished with one less point than his teammate by placing 6th in the triple jump and 7th in both the long jump and 400 meters. Oglethorpe's third jumper, freshman Max Duwat, captured 5th place in the triple jump. Rounding out the scoring were freshman Allen Zow with a 6th in the shot put and teammate Brandon Morse close behind in 7th.
