Track Season Gets Underway at Tiger Invitational

In its first competition of the 2010 Indoor Track and Field Season, Oglethorpe's women finished 6th and the men claimed 9th at the University of the South Invitational last Saturday.

Leading the Lady Petrels in scoring was senior Elizabeth Hale with a 3rd place in the high jump, 3rd in the triple jump and a 4th place result in the long jump. Junior Sarah Foster scored with a 5th place in the 200 meter dash and a 6th place in the 55 meter hurdles while senior Chloey Mayo recorded points with a 2nd place in the shot put. Junior Tammer Weems pointed for Oglethorpe with a 6th place result in the shot put and junior Courtney Craig also got on the board with a 7th place finish in the shot.

On the men's side, Isaac Barron led the way in points by placing 3rd in the triple jump and 6th in the long jump. Freshman Troy Sheets scored with a 4th place in the triple jump, junior Evan Britton pointed with a 7th place finish in the long jump and senior Brandon Morse rounded out the Petrels posting points with a 7th place result in the shot put.

The Oglethorpe men's and women's track teams are back in competition on February 20 when they return to Sewanee's Fowler Gymnasium for an Indoor Meet.
