Bob Unger will begin his twentieth season as head coach. Since his arrival the men's and women's teams have won 101 dual meets while losing only 25.

Unger is a 1969 graduate of Lebanon Valley College where he competed in cross country and wrestling He holds the M.A. from the University of Chicago.

Coach Unger and wife, Beth, live with their daughter Evelyn exactly 10 kilometers from the campus (which, on occasion, he runs).  Their son James is a 4th-grade teacher at nearby Dunwoody Elementary.

In addition to coaching 38 Academic All-Americans in cross country, conference champions in track and national finalists in both sports at Oglethorpe, he coached Ireland's 5000 meter entry in the 1996 Olympic Games and the U.S.A.'s Pentathlete in the Paralympics the same year.
