Facing three top-rated cross country teams last Saturday at the Sewanee Invitational, Oglethorpe's men and women opened their respective 2010 seasons.

The men recorded a ninth place finish while the women did not post a team score. All but two of the Oglethorpe runners were competing in their first collegiate race at increased distances over their high school races.

Leading the men was Billy Colbert who clocked a respectable 29:33 for the 8 kilometers. He was followed by senior captain Ellis Jones, and fellow freshmen Robbie Capps, Phillip Belcher, Dustin Carnahan, Steeve Birota and Alan Aguirre

Finishing first for the womem was freshman Tirzah Brown in 30:09 for the 6k race. She was followed by freshman Khadija Nisar, senior captain Michelle Chelemer and first-year runner sophomore Ify Akiti.

The teams will next compete in the Georgia State University Invitational in Hampton, Georgia this Friday, September 10th.
