Harriers Compete at Southern Cross Country Challenge

Oglethorpe's men and women competed Saturday afternoon in a heat-affected cross country race at the Cobb County Park race course. The high temperature at race time, however, did not prevent the Petrels from continuing to post solid performances.

Junior Donyale Greenwell finished 4th and freshman Katy Galli finished 7th in the eight team women's 5k. Co-captain Tirzah Brown ran her best time of the year and freshman Lisa Hoffman stuck with her throughout to also record her best time.

Freshman David Whitson was followed by co-captain Robbie Capps, fellow freshmen Michael Caneega and Allen Griner, with co-captain Phillip Belcher rounding out the scoring. In the only team scores kept, the men finished 4th out of six teams.

Both squads return to action at home in the annual Oglethorpe Cross Country Classic Saturday morning, October 15th. Ten men's teams will race the 8 kilometer campus course at 8:30 a.m. The women's 5k will follow at 9:25 a.m.
