  • Five Stormy Petrels Named to SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams

    The SAA released their 2017 Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams Friday, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons. The five Stormy Petrels selected join a total of 56 student-athletes among the conference's eight full-time and five affiliate members across its seven sponsored fall sports.
  • Men's Cross Country Finishes 16th at NCAA Regional, Women Led by Stenn's Top-Half Finish

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Saturday in Newport News, Virginia, and saw the men earn a 16th place finish out of 32 teams. Meanwhile, the women put all three competitors in the top half of the field of over 200 runners.
  • Cross Country Set to Compete at NCAA South/Southeast Regional

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Saturday morning at Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News, Virginia. The Stormy Petrels will look to cap an outstanding season that saw both teams earn the best finishes in their SAA history, and saw three men's runners take All-SAA honors.
  • Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth for Highest-Ever Mark at SAA Championships; Three Petrels Earn Spots on All-SAA Teams

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the SAA Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at Nash Farm Battlefield in Hampton, Georgia, posting their highest-ever finish at an SAA Championship in the process. The Stormy Petrels came home with a score of 91 points and an average time of 28 minutes, 23 seconds in the eight-kilometer race. In addition, the Petrels saw freshman Bill Lester earn the SAA Men's Cross Country Newcomer of the Year award and sophomore Mateo Villa take All-SAA Second Team honors, with Lester and freshman Jacob Hadden both earning All-SAA Honorable Mention.
  • SAA Cross Country Championships Moved Up One Hour Due to Weather

    The SAA Cross Country Championships, set to be hosted by Oglethorpe and to take place at Nash Farm Battlefield in Hampton, have been moved up an hour due to forecast bad weather Saturday in the Atlanta area. The women's race will now get started at 9 a.m. and the men's race will get underway at 10 a.m.
  • Fall Teams to Compete in SAA Championships Saturday

    The Oglethorpe cross country and soccer teams will be competing in various SAA championship events on Saturday. The men's and women's cross country teams will battle for their respective conference championships, while the men's and women's soccer teams will play in the quarterfinal round of their respective tournaments.
  • Men's Cross Country Finishes Fouth at Berry Invitational; Stenn Leads Women in 25th

    The Oglethorpe cross country team closed out their regular season Saturday at the Berry Invitational in Mount Berry. The men finished fourth as a team, coming home with an average time of 27 minutes, 40.81 seconds and a total time of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 24.0 seconds. That put them just a tenth of a second total and two-hundredths of a second on average behind third-place Covenant.
  • Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Piedmont Invitational; Stenn Finishes Seventh for Women

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams competed at the Piedmont Invitational Saturday morning in Tallulah Falls, with the men's squad finishing third overall, putting up an average time of 30 minutes, one second and total time of 2:30.1. The women's squad saw sophomore Hava Stenn set a school six-kilometer record, finishing seventh in 24:06.5.
  • Cross Country Competes Against Division I and II Competition at Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational

    The Oglethorpe cross country team competed against a variety of Division I and Division II competition Saturday at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. The men's team finished 14th amongst a field of 24 teams at the event, which was hosted by the University of Florida, while the women did not haven enough runners compete to officially place, but they did have some solid individual performances.
  • Hadden Earns Second Straight SAA Runner of the Week Honor

    Freshman Jacob Hadden of the Oglethorpe men's cross country team earned SAA Men's Runner of the Week honors on Tuesday, marking the second time in as many weeks the first-year Stormy Petrel earned the accolade.

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team earned a regional ranking Tuesday in the Week 1 poll put out by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), coming in at No. 9 in the South/Southeast region.
  • Men's Cross Country Performs Well at Furman Invitational, Finishing 10th

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team performed well amidst a tough field at the Furman Invitational Saturday morning in Greenville, South Carolina. The Stormy Petrels finished 10th in the meet overall, posting an average time of 27 minutes, 24.9 seconds and coming in second among Division III teams behind fifth-place Emory.
  • Jacob Hadden Garners SAA Men's Runner of the Week Accolades

    The SAA named Oglethorpe freshman Jacob Hadden as the SAA Men's Runner of the Week Tuesday for his efforts in the team's second-place finish at the Georgia NCAA Division III Invitational Friday in Mount Berry. In his first collegiate race, Hadden paced the Petrels and finished in the top five at the event.
  • Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Georgia NCAA Division III Invitational; Goodwin Leads Women with 14th Place Finish

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team enjoyed an excellent start to their season Friday night at the Georgia NCAA Division III Invitational in Mount Berry, finishing second at the meet and earning seven individual top 30 finishes. The meet featured Division III teams from within the state, and only regional power Emory was able to best the Stormy Petrels, who finished with an average time of 28 minutes, 6.7 seconds around the eight-kilometer course.
  • 2017 Men's Cross Country Season Preview

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams make their return this weekend, and they'll look to build on a 2016 season in which they showed improvement over the course of the season and at the SAA Championships. The men's team finished sixth and the women seventh at that event, marking the highest finishes for either program in their brief SAA history. Now, they'll look to continue to move up the standings as they try to climb to the next tier this season.
