    Sophomore Jacob Hadden of the Oglethorpe men's cross country team earned an individual spot at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Winneconne, Wisconsin, as announced Sunday by the NCAA committee. It marked the first time that a Stormy Petrel has qualifies for the national cross country meet since Doug Pack did so in 1994.

Freshman Hayden Guthrie of the men's team earned SAA Newcomer of the Year honors, while four men and one woman were named to All-SAA teams.

The Stormy Petrels came in with a total time of 2 hours, 13 minutes and 21 seconds on the 8-kilometer course, and averaged 26:41.

The Stormy Petrels competed against 20 teams at the event, and came in ahead of all but two Division III schools, as Berea and Emory finished ahead of them.

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams had a very successful day at the Sewanee Invitational in Tennessee Saturday morning. The men's team won the meet with a final score of 25 and an average time of 27 minutes, 43 seconds on the eight-kilometer course. Sophomore Jacob Hadden finished first individually at the meet, while a total of five men and two women finished in the top 10 of their respective races.

In addition, sophomore Jacob Hadden finished second as an individual, coming in with a time of 26 minutes, 41.31 seconds on the eight-kilometer course.
