The Oglethorpe University women's basketball team lost to Hendrix College in the SCAC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday night in Jackson, Mississippi, 73-52. The Petrels held an early 8 point lead over the Warriors and only trailed 35-30 at the half, but Hendrix managed to extend the margin in the second half for the win.

Richmann Named Women's Basketball Assistant Coach
The Oglethorpe University athletics department is pleased to announce the hiring of Elizabeth “Biz” Richmann as assistant women’s basketball coach. Richmann will join head coach Ron Sattele, who coached her during four highly successful seasons playing for Oglethorpe, on the women’s basketball coaching staff. Kulavic Named Division III All-America
Oglethorpe University senior guard Katie Kulavic of Norcross, Georgia has been selected as a member of the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team. Kulavic was one of only ten athletes to be selected to the team by an online vote of the selection committee which is comprised of one representative from each of the eight NCAA geographical regions and an NCAA chairperson.

Oglethorpe University senior guard Anna Findley of Hiram, Georgia has been selected as a member of the D3hoops.com 12th annual Division III Women’s Basketball All-America Third Team. The teams, chosen by D3hoops.com staff from 320 nominations by schools, feature the best 25 players from throughout the country.
