Women Rally, Top Manchester

The Oglethorpe University women's basketball team defeated Manchester on a neutral court in Florence, Kentucky on Saturday afternoon, 82-77. Down by nine points at the half, the Petrels rallied to claim the victory on the campus of Thomas More College

Oglethorpe was lifted by the ball-hawking second half defense of two freshmen, Katie Lynn and Megan Miles, who each also combined to score 12 points in the decisive twenty minutes. Freshman Mareva Bone posted a team-high 16 points in the afternoon win and Chelsea MacDonald and Sarah Jones each chipped in nine points for the Petrels. Kaci Palmore continued to do yeoman's work in the paint, posting 9 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and rejecting 5 shots.
 
With the win Oglethorpe is now 2-1 on the season and will brace for Sunday afternoon action against nationally ranked Thomas More College at 4:00 p.m. To follow the live stats from the game, go here.
