The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its postseason award winners for women's basketball on Saturday night and Oglethorpe juniors Sarah Jones and Mareva Bone, along with senior Katie Weeks, were named Honorable Mention selections.
Weeks, a senior guard from Woodstock, Ga., was the Petrels third-leading scorer on the season at 9.1 points per game. She was second on the squad in assists with 39 and averaged 3.5 rebounds per game. She currently stands in 16th place all-time in scoring for the Oglethorpe women's basketball program.
Bone, a junior from Marietta, Ga., was Oglethorpe's second-leading scorer at 9.7 points per game to go along with being second on the squad in rebounding (5.3 per game) and field goal percentage (.409). Her 1.9 steals per game averaged placed her in 11th place among the leaders of the SCAC.
Jones, a junior for Ellijay, Ga., led the Petrels in scoring in 2011-12 with a 9.8 point per game averaged that ranked her in 21st place among the league scoring leaders. Her 56 made three-pointers on the season were 4th best in the league and her .344 percentage form downtown checked in as the conference's 14th best acumen.
