Women's Golf Finishes Rome News Invitational in 8th Place
The women's golf team began their spring season on Monday afternoon and finished their first event on Tuesday in 8th place at the Rome News Invitational hosted by Berry College.
Following a round one where three Petrels carded their lowest competitive collegiate rounds en route to a team total of 335, Oglethorpe battled gusty conditions on day 2 and saw their team total surge to 353 as they fell from 7th to 8th place among 11 schools participating in the field.
Dona Kioseff followed her round one 80 with a day two 83 to finish at 163 and in 23rd place overall. Chelsea Gatterdam also scored a Top 25 finish by shooting 80-83=163 while Laura Landry went 85-92=177 to come home in a tie for 37th. Tori Van Wyen (89-94=183) placed 46th and Edda Bjarnadottir improved on day two (105-99=204) to finish her first competitive tournament in 57th place. Lauren Williams, competing as an individual, shot 92-92=184 for a solid showing that was good for a tie for 47th.

Dona Kioseff led the way by scoring an 80, good for 12th place overall. Chelsea Gatterdam (81, T-18th) and Laura Landry (85, T-33rd) carded their collegiate competitive bests while Tori Van Wyen shot an 89 for a tie for 41st place. Edda Bjarndottir, a winter tranfer to Oglethorpe via Iceland, competed in her first collegiate tournament and scored a 105.
Lauren Williams competed as an individual for the Petrels and also posted her best competitive round of 92.
