The Oglethorpe women's golf team returned to the links on Tuesday morning for the 2011 Rhodes College Spring Invitational at the Windyke West Golf Course in Germantown, Tenn. and three Petrels finished in the top 13 of the field in the weather shortened event.
Wind and rain forced the postponement of Monday's scheduled round one so the event was settled on Tuesday in an 18 hole dash that NAIA member the University of Mobile won. Host Rhodes College finished in second place with the Petrels not far behind in third after a team total of 349. Maryville College and Hendrix College finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Individually, Laura Landry fired an 83 (+11) on the afternoon to finish in sixth place while Chelsea Gatterdam's 86 (+14) was good for a tie for 10th. Dona Kioseff continued her steady play by coming home in 13th position after an 88 (+16) and Tori Van Wyen and Lauren Williams each carded a 92 (+20), good for a 16th place tie. Edda Bjarnadottir competed as an individual for the Petrels and scored a 108.
