Women's Golf Posts 6th Place at 2011 SCAC Championships

The women's golf team finished the 2011 SCAC Women's Golf Championships held in Horseshoe Bay, Texas in sixth place. Playing with a roster that featured four freshmen, the Petrels acquitted themselves nicely in the three-day event on the very difficult Apple Rock Course at the Horseshoe Bay Resorts.

The Petrels squad combined to card a three-day total of 1113, finishing behind tournament winner and the nation's No. 2 ranked team DePauw by a distant 149 strokes. Oglethorpe freshman Laura Landry managed the extremely difficult conditions best, carding a total of 250 (+34) to finish in 9th place and earn a spot on the All-SCAC Second Team.

Freshmen Chelsea Gatterdam, Lauren Williams and Tori Van Wyen finished 17th, 27th and 30th, respectively while transfer sophomore Edda Bjarndottir came home in 31st.
