Gatterdam and Kioseff Named NGCA All-American Scholars

The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) announced the members of the 2011 Divison III All-American Scholars and Oglethorpe freshmen Chelsea Gatterdam (pictured) and Dona Kioseff made the cut after an outstanding season on the links and in the classroom.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 while competing in over 12 rounds of competitive golf with a stoke average of 95 or better.

Gatterdam, of Pensacola, Fla. and Kioseff, of Valdosta, Ga., formed a powerful freshman duo for a future of Oglethorpe women's golf that looks bright. The latest Freshman Class Impact analysis, which is provided by Golfstat.com and measures the impact of a team's freshmen in their lineup based on a number of statistical categories, shows the Oglethorpe women in 9th place nationally. The 2010-11 women's golf lineup featured five freshmen producing an average score of 92.32 to create a relative strength number of 398.96. In short translation:  with players like Gatterdam and Kioseff leading the way, the women project to be a Top 10 team in years to come if this class continues to improve at their current rate.
