Women's Golfers Gain Experience Among Nations Elite at Jekyll

The women's golf team recorded an 18th place finish among 21 of the stongest women's golf programs in the country at this past weeken'd Jekyll Island Collegiate which Oglethorpe served as host.

The squad gained valuable experience in a loaded field that included 6 of the Top 15 ranked schools in the country in Golfstat's head-to-head rankings. Methodist University won the three day event by 15 strokes over second place Coastal Georgia.

Oglethorpe's young roster of freshmen and spohomore perfromed well at the event. Sophomore Chelsea Gatterdam carded a three-day total of 257 to finish in a tie for 37th while classmate Tori Van Wyen posted a total of 260 to come home tied for 73rd. Freshman Jordan Krahn was just two shots back of Van Wyen in a tie for 76th and Erin McPhee carded a 279 to finish tied for 98th.

The Petrels will have nearly a month off before next competing at the Methodist University Spring Invitational on April 14.
