Women's Golf Gets Final Tune-Up Prior to SCAC Championships

The women's golf team closed out their regular season schedule this past weekend by competing at the Methodist Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, N.C. With the goal of fine-tuning their games in the lead up to the SCAC Championships, the women scored a fifth place finish while sharpening their skills.

Freshman Jordan Krahn scored successive 89's on her way to leading Oglethorpe with a 23rd place individual finish. Sophomore Tori Van Wyen shot 87-94 and finished in 25th position while teammate Chelsea Gatterdam (95-94) was 8 strokes behind Van Wyen in a tie for 28th. Freshman Erin McPhee was 7 strokes back of Gatterdam in 33rd position.

As the team preps for the SCAC Championships to be held at the Tunica Resorts in Mississippi beginning April 27, recent Golfstat statistics are showing the squad's marked improvement. The Petrels currently rank 63rd nationally in par-4 scoring while Van Wyen stands in 42nd place in the same category for all Division III women's golfers.
