Women’s Soccer and Lacrosse Teams Welcome Davis

Ranked in the top 15% of her class, Tate Davis comes to Oglethorpe as a duel athlete committing to play for the women's soccer (fall) and women's lacrosse (spring) teams.

Oglethorpe welcomes this Scholar Athlete (2009, 2011) who also received  the Oglethorpe’s Presidential Scholarship with Recognition. Having picked up the game of lacrosse just a few years ago, Tate will be an inaugural member of Stormy Petrels' first women’s team. Her place on the soccer team will showcase her many years on the soccer pitch.

"Tate will bring great tactical awareness and physical bite to the back line," said women's soccer head coach Alan Woods. "We couldn't be more excited to have her and we expect her to contribute right away."

“Tate comes to us as an all-around athlete and superb student, which is ideal," said women's lacrosse head coach Lee Ann Tutchton. "She will be a pinnacle force on the defense and a founding member of this team that truly honors the spirit of the game.”

The women’s soccer season will begin in September of 2012, with their first Southern Athletic Association (SAA) game coming against Sewanee.

Oglethorpe will host their first SAA women's lacrosse contest on February 20, 2013 on Salamone Field and welcomes everyone to come out to see this historical game.
