Lions Top Petrels in Demorest

The women's soccer team was topped by Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga. on Wednesday night, 6-0. The Lions jumped in front in the 22nd minute on a header off a corner kick and never looked back.

The Petrels held their own throughout much of the first half but conceded a penalty kick with less than a minute before halftime that gave the Lions a 2-0 advantage at the break. Piedmont then scored two more goals in the first four minutes of the second half to open up an insurmountable lead.

The Lions outshot the Petrels 24-10 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks to control the contest.

Oglethorpe is now 1-2 on the season and will have some time off before hosting Warren Wilson on Saturday, September 24 at 11:30 a.m. on Salamone Field. The team will don pink jerseys and pink socks to raise awareness for breast cancer as part of the National Cancer Society's "Think Pink" initiative.
