Sewanee tops Women in Season Finale

The women's soccer team lost to Sewanee in their season finale on Salamone Field on Sunday afternoon, 7-2. The Tigers raced out to a comfortable lead with three first half goals on their way to the win.

Sewanee made the score 4-0 in the 49th minute before Oglethorpe got their offense going with some nifty passing to get on the scoreboard just six minutes later. The strike came when senior Jordan Weaver hooked up with Clara St. Urbain on a through ball that St. Urbain finished brilliantly.

The Petrels added a second tally in the 65th minute when senior Kristen Koch converted on a Tiger miscue in the box and pounded one home.

Prior to the game the Petrels celebrated Senior Day for their seven graduating seniors: Elvira Hernandez, Kim Overmier, Sasha Alonzo, Eliza Newland, Jordan Weaver, Kristen Koch and Alexandria Vassell.

Oglethorpe finishes the season with a 2-11-1 overall record.
